NESAC, Umiam, is observing Swachhta Pakhwada-2025 with a series of cleaning and sanitation activities within NESAC and the surrounding areas of Umiam from January 31 to February 14, 2025. The event was inaugurated on January 31, 2025, by the Director of NESAC, marking the beginning of activities such as a pledge-taking ceremony, a signature campaign, and a cleaning drive. Shri Ramani K Das, Chairman of SPIC, presented the planned activities for the fortnight to the gathering.
Throughout the Pakhwada, various initiatives have been scheduled, including a plogging run, cleaning of Umiam market, repair and maintenance of the Sulabh toilet complex, awareness campaigns in nearby schools, and cleaning efforts at Umiam Lake’s lay-by, the banks of Umiam River, and rainwater harvesting ponds. Additionally, quiz and painting competitions will be organized to engage participants. Coordinators have been designated for daily activities, and the program will conclude on February 14, 2025.
