The Water Resources Division (WRD) is responsible for all developmental activities in watershed / river basin scale with the application of geo-spatial technologies. The major activities include development of state / district level river / water information system, prioritization of sub-watersheds for conservation of soil and water, study of morphological behavior of river channels, install capacity assessment of hydro-electric projects, development of hydro sensor network for flood and reservoir monitoring systems etc. In the field of disaster mitigation, WRD, NESAC has national level expertise in Flood Early Warning System development, River Erosion Monitoring, cutting edge hydraulic and hydro-dynamic modeling etc. Over the last two decades from the year 2000 onward, WRD, NESAC has carried out impactful activities and projects for overall regional understanding in application of space technologies for addressing challenging hydrological issues in the NER of India.
