Shri P.L.N. Raju, Director, NESAC has been awarded prestigious Satish Dhawan Award for the year 2109 by Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS) in recognition of his pioneering and significant life time contributions in promoting space technology applications for natural resources management, disaster risk reduction, tele-education, space science and meteorology, education, training, distance learning and outreach, etc. as well as using UAVs in north eastern region.
The award was conferred during the ISRS-ISG National Symposium & Annual Convention jointly organized by ISRS-Ahmedabad Chapter & ISG-Ahmedabad Chapter and hosted by Space Applications Centre, ISRO, Ahmedabad through an online/virtual platform during 18th & 19th December 2020.
Indian Society of Geomatics (ISG)-Shillong Chapter has been awarded Best Chapter Award for the year 2019 and the award was conferred during the ISRS-ISG National Symposium & Annual Convention hosted at SAC Ahmedabad during 18th & 19th December 2020 through online/virtual platform.
During the year 2019, ISG Shillong-Chapter organised the National Symposium on Innovations in Geospatial Technology for Sustainable Development with special emphasis on NER and Annual Conventions of ISG and ISRS at NESAC, Shillong with a pre-symposium tutorial on 4 key themes. The symposium was attended by more than 350 delegates. Besides this, there has been a number programmes and other societal activities were organised by ISG-Shillong Chapter, namely, popular lectures during Vikram Sarabhai Birth Centenary celebration, National Remote Sensing Day, etc.
Shri PLN Raju, Chairman, Dr. B.K. Handique, Secretary and Shri Chandan Goswami, Treasurer of ISG-Shillong Chapter received the award on behalf of ISG-Shillong Chapter.
Dr Dibyajyoti Chutia,Scientist-SF has received the National Geomatics Award 2019 on Technology for his significant contribution in the applications of Geomatics. The award was given by the Hon’ble Governor of Meghalaya during the National Symposium on “Innovations in Geospatial Technology for Sustainable Development with special emphasis on NER” and annual conventions of Indian Society of Geomatics (ISG) & Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS) organized jointly by Indian Society of Geomatics & Indian Society of Remote Sensing held during 20-22 November, 2019 in Shillong.
Election e-ATLAS developed for the States of North East Region received the 7th eNabling North East [eNorth East] Award 2019-2020 in the category ACCESS TO PUBLIC SCHEMES, ENTITLEMENTS, CITIZEN & E-GOVERNANCE SERVICES. With the theme of the event plenary ‘Sustaining the Pursuit of UN SDGs Post in Covid19 North East India’, the 7th edition of the eNorth East Award 2019-20 was announced on June 20, 2020, as culmination of months of nomination process, and three days of virtual jury (due to Covid-19) for selecting the best sustainable development practices of North East India. Total 51 nominations shortlisted for the award event. Mr. K. Moses Chalai, IAS, Secretary of the North Eastern Council (NEC), Government of India graced the occasion as Chief Guest of the event along with the other dignitaries.
