NESAC celebrated National Science Day on February 28, 2022, organized under the aegis of Indian Society of Geomatics (ISG)-Shillong Chapter and Indian Society of Remote Sensing-Shillong Chapter. The program was coordinated by Dr. B.K. Handique, Secretary, ISG-Shillong Chapter and Dr. K.K. Sarma, Secretray, ISRS-Shillong Chapter.
Quiz and painting competitions for high school and higher secondary students were organised as part of the event. Shri Vedant Baiswar and Shri Paritosh Chaudhary from Christ School Christ School (International), Nongsder bagged the first prize, Ms. Adorbale B. Majaw and Ms. Mebagrisha Syiemlieh from MeECL School, Sumer bagged the second prize and Shri. Rohit Shah and Abishek Tiwari from Kendriya Vidyalaya, North Eastern Police Academy won the third prize in the quiz competition. In the painting competition, the first prize went to Ms. Anamika Kharkrang from Kendriya Vidyalaya, North Eastern Police Academy. The second prize was bagged by Ms. Disha Ali and the third prize by Shri. Alok Das, both from K.V. Umroi Cantt., Umroi. Cash Prizes were awarded to all the winners of the competitions.
Around 80 students accompanied by 15 teachers from Kendriya Vidyalaya, North Eastern Police Academy; MeECL School, Sumer & Barapani; K.V Umroi Cantt., Umroi and Christ School (International), Nongsder attended the talk delivered by Dr. S.P Aggarwal, Director NESAC on the topic ‘Indian Space Program and the Societal Benefits’. An exhibition on different aspects of Space technology and its applications was also organized to mark the occasion.
The Prgram was concluded with Vote of Thanks offered by Dr. Chandan Goswami, Treasurer, ISG-Shillong Chapter.
