Forty nine students of Class XII from three different Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) schools of Meghalaya along with 7 faculty members visited NESAC on 29th March 2022 as a part of the Department of Science and Technology (DST) programme called “Vigyan Jyoti Scheme”. The students’ visit was coordinated by Dr Rekha B Gogoi, Scientist-SE and Shri Abhishek Chhari, Scientist-SD. Dr Arup Borgohain, Scientist-SE, NESAC gave a general overview of Indian Space Programme and informed the students about the various activities of NESAC and other ISRO/DOS Centres. Later, the students were taken to the Space and Atmospheric Science lab, where Dr Aniket Chakravorty, Scientist-SD provided detailed information about the working principles of different instruments used for understanding atmospheric processes prevalent over the region through observation. They were also taken to the UAV lab and a live demonstration of UAV fly was given by Shri Sashi B. Nayak, Technical Assistant, NESAC.

A customised two weeks course for the Indo German Development Cooperation funded project “Climate Resilience of Forest Ecosystems, Biodiversity & Adaptive Capacities of Forest Dependent Communities in Tripura” (CFEFLAT) supported by the Tripura Forest Department was organised during 21st April 2025 to 02nd May 2025 by the Forestry & Ecology Division. Twelve officials participated as the first batch of the training programme. The training focussed on the introductory lectures on basics concepts of remote sensing, GIS, image interpretations, map projections and digital image processing with emphasis on hands-on exercises on different aspects of forest cover and land use mapping.
