Seventy five students of class I to VIII from Army Public School, Umroi Cantt. were on an educational tour to NESAC on March 15, 2022. They had very good interaction with senior scientists of NESAC and learned about the activities of NESAC. They also attended a lecture on space technology followed by a question answer session. Videos on satellite launching and space applications were shown to the students. Students were very curious and wanted to know about the details of material used in Satellite, Space Station, Solar Flare, Geomagnetism, Chandrayaan, and Mars Mission. They visited SATCOM Studio and Atmospheric Science Laboratory and used the telescope to see the Sun as a star. At the end, flying of UAV/Drone was demonstrated to the students. The students’ visit was coordinated by Dr. Abhay Srivastava, Research Scientist, NESAC.

A customised two weeks course for the Indo German Development Cooperation funded project “Climate Resilience of Forest Ecosystems, Biodiversity & Adaptive Capacities of Forest Dependent Communities in Tripura” (CFEFLAT) supported by the Tripura Forest Department was organised during 21st April 2025 to 02nd May 2025 by the Forestry & Ecology Division. Twelve officials participated as the first batch of the training programme. The training focussed on the introductory lectures on basics concepts of remote sensing, GIS, image interpretations, map projections and digital image processing with emphasis on hands-on exercises on different aspects of forest cover and land use mapping.
