NESAC, in collaboration with the Town and Country Planning Organisation, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Govt. of India, successfully conducted a two-week training program on “Formulation of GIS Based Master Plans (Tier-II) under AMRUT Capacity Building sub-scheme Initiation” for Middle Level Officials at the NESAC Outreach Facility during April 18 to April 29, 2022. During the training, a diverse range of topics were covered, including government initiatives in geospatial technology based in planning, remote sensing basics, satellite image interpretation, survey techniques and navigation system, classification, Mobile applications, GIS analysis, advanced technologies like LiDAR, UAV; urban sprawl, growth modeling, creation of Geodatabase, preparation of GIS Based Master Plan, and along with practical session on each topic.
Each official had their own unique experience at various levels in different states, which led sessions to explore common ground, challenges in planning, zonal regulations, and so on. Mohd. Monis Khan, Town & Country Planner, TCPO, MoHUA, New Delhi, highlighted that this is the country’s 60th AMRUT training session. Dr. S.P. Aggarwal, Director, NESAC interacted with the officials and discussed regarding importance of base maps and other entities and illustrated on 3 important aspects viz., software, hardware and humans.
