NESAC jointly with Digital India Corporation (DIC), MeitY, Delhi & College of Post-Graduate Studies in Agricultural Sciences (CPGS-AS), CAU (I), Umiam, Meghalaya had organised The Stakeholder Consultation Meeting & Field Visit on January 9-10, 2025, at CPGS-AS, to review the progress of the Customization, Enhancement & Deployment of Digital Solutions for Empowering Citizens of North-East India project, funded by MeitY, Government of India. The event focused on key initiatives, including UAV-based crop health monitoring, Mobile-Based Agro-Advisory System (m4agri), DigiBunai for artisans, and Punarjjani for children with intellectual disabilities. Over 100 participants, including scientists, government officials, academicians, and project beneficiaries, engaged in discussions to assess the impact and sustainability of these initiatives.
The meeting featured technical presentations and demonstrations, showcasing the role of UAVs, and digital platforms in enhancing agriculture and rural livelihoods. The Project Review Steering Group (PRSG) members and experts discussed strategies for scaling up these technologies, integrating AI and blockchain applications, and strengthening institutional collaborations to ensure long-term sustainability. A field visit to project sites in Meghalaya provided firsthand insights into the practical benefits of these digital interventions, allowing stakeholders to interact with beneficiary farmers and assess the implementation on the ground.
NESAC, in collaboration with partner institutions, remains committed to utilise geospatial and digital technologies for the socio-economic development of North-East India. The meeting concluded with key recommendations for expanding digital solutions, ensuring their sustained impact in agriculture, education, and rural development across the region.
