Shri A S Kiran Kumar, Former Chairman, ISRO visits NESAC
Shri A. S. Kiran Kumar, Former Chairman of ISRO, visited NESAC during August 11–13, 2025. As part of his visit, he delivered a popular lecture on “Celebrating Innovation for a Better Future: India’s Space Program” on 12 August 2025, organized as part of the National Remote Sensing Day – 2025 celebrations. The lecture was conducted in hybrid mode, with more than 100 scientists and research scholars attending in person at NESAC and over 200 participants joining online. The engaging session concluded with a large number of queries from both offline and online participants, to which Shri Kiran Kumar had responded..
During his stay, he also reviewed NESAC’s preparations for hosting the National Space Science Symposium – 2026. He visited the main auditorium and other proposed venues for the parallel technical sessions and provided valuable suggestions to enhance the readiness for the event. The Director, NESAC, made a detailed presentation on the Centre’s activities and achievements, including an overview of major ongoing projects. Shri Kiran Kumar further addressed the NESAC fraternity, interacting with all Scientists and Engineers, and shared insightful guidance and suggestions for various projects and initiatives. He showed particular interest in the lightning early warning system and emphasized the need for NESAC to intensify its efforts towards developing a comprehensive, end-to-end lightning warning service
