National Space Day 2025 for the state of Sikkim was celebrated on July 17, 2025 at Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT), Majitar. The event was jointly organized by the Sikkim State Council of Science and Technology, Science and Technology Department, Government of Sikkim, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC) in collaboration with Department of Information Technology, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT) at SMIT Majitar.
Dr. G.K. Prabhu, Honorable Vice Chancellor, Sikkim Manipal University, was the Chief Guest of the event and it was attended by 240 participants, including scientists from ISRO and NESAC, government officials, educators, and school students. Of these, 170 were school students from 17 different schools of Pakyong district. Additionally, 20 schools participated online through live streaming.
Dr. G.L. Sharma, Director, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology delivered the welcome address of the event and Smt. H. Suchitra Devi, Scientist/Engineer, NESAC introduced the background of National Space Day. In the technical session 1, Shri Senthil Kumar G, Scientist/Engineer, ISRO, Bangalore delivered on the Indian’s Lunar Missions. Shri D.G. Shrestha, Secretary, Science & Technology Department, Govt. of Sikkim, spoke on the transformative role of geospatial and satellite-based technologies in natural resource management. He acknowledged the pivotal role of NESAC in implementing remote sensing-based developmental projects across the Northeast and encouraged students to consider careers in space sciences. The Chief Guest, Dr. G.K. Prabhu, Honorable Vice Chancellor, Sikkim Manipal University, Gangtok, in his remarks, he underscored how space technology continues to serve societal needs and lauded the achievements of India’s scientific community, particularly the Chandrayaan-3 mission.
Dr. Narpati Sharma, Scientific Officer, Science and Technology Department, Government of Sikkim, presented a talk on the “Initiative taken by Government of Sikkim on Societal Benefit using Space Technology” during the technical session 2.
The team Curiosity from the Department of Management Studies, SMIT conducted the Quiz competition for the students and prizes were distributed to the winners.

NAGALAND
The National Space Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 29th July, 2025 at Tiyi Hall, Wokha, Nagaland. The event was jointly organized by NESAC & Nagaland GIS & RS Centre (NGISRSC) under Department of Planning & transformation, Government of Nagaland. The program commenced with a formal inaugural session graced by Shri Vineet Kumar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Wokha. An inspirational keynote address was delivered by Dr. B.R Nagendra, Head, HRDD, PPEG, URSC-ISRO, highlighting India’s journey in pace technology. This was followed by a series of technical talks on geospatial applications for societal benefit, a live demonstration of UAV flying and a quiz competition for students. In addition, students actively participated in an elocution competition, speaking on themes such as National Space Day and the role of youth in supporting space technology initiatives. Winners of the competitions were felicitated during the valedictory session. The event was coordinated by Dr. Dibyajyoti Chutia, Head, GID, NESAC. Er. Mhathung Kithan, Senior Project Director, NGISRSC, served as the focal point from the state government for the successful conduct of the programme.

WEST BENGAL
National Space Day 2025 for West Bengal state was celebrated on July 29th 2025 at National Institute of Technology Durgapur. The event was jointly organized by NIT Durgapur, RRSC-East, ISRO & NESAC. Approximately 240 students from 06 schools in and around Durgapur area participated in the event. Professor (Dr.) Kalyan Adhikari, Dean, Student Welfare, NIT Durgapur was the Chief Guest of the event while Dr. Arindam Guha, Head, Applications, RRSC-East, Kolkata served as the Guest of Honour. During the technical session, Dr. Guha gave an engaging lecture on ‘ISRO’s Planetary Missions for Terrestrial Planets’ while Shri Avijit Mitra, Scientist- SF, URSC delivered an insightful presentation on ‘Thermal Management of Lunar Missions & Future Challenges in India’s Quest for Space Excellence.’multimedia exhibitions showcasing mission highlights, technical achievements, and the broader vision of India’s space ambitions. Alongside the main event, an exhibition was also organized for the students which showcased various prototypes of space research components, such as rockets, cryo- engines, and satellites, offering visitors a closer look at the innovations driving space exploration. A Quiz Competition was organized for the students post lunch followed by distribution of prizes to the students of first three ranked schools. This was followed by an interaction session with ISRO Scientists where many queries of the students were answered suitably by ISRO Scientists. The program was concluded with vote of thanks and distribution of sweets to the students.

MANIPUR
The second National Space Day was jointly organized by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), Manipur Remote Sensing Application Centre (MARSAC) in association with Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Manipur on the theme – “Aryabhatta to Gaganyaan: Ancient wisdom to infinite possibilities” in Imphal on July 31, 2025. The event was graced by several dignitaries, Dr. R.K. Radhesana Devi, Director (Planning), including O. Nodiachand Singh, Director,MARSAC, Dr. N. Raghu Meitei, Associate Director, Directorate of Technology Development and Innovation (DTDI), ISRO HQ., Dr. Kishorjit Singh N, Registrar, IIIT, Manipur; M. Somorjit Singh, Head, GSD and Dr. Victor Saikhom, Scientist- SF of NESAC, Dept. of Space, Govt. of India respectively. The Director of Planning, highlighted that this year’s theme focused on expanding space-based applications across the country. Dr. Kishorjit Singh N, Registrar, IIIT-M highlighted the real applications of space technology in the real world especially in the field of AI and Machine Learning. Dr. N. Raghu Meitei delivered a talk on Space Programmes with special emphasis on Moon Missions. Shri M. Somorjit Singh delivered a talk on Space Applications for Societal benefits. Prof. Dilip Angom, Head of Physics Department, Manipur University presented a detail account of the contributions of Dr.(L) Surjalal, Space Physicist, University of Maryland, USA, in India”s Space programme. Students from various educational institutions participated in a quiz competition on space science and interactive sessions
TRIPURA
The National Space Day 2025 celebration in Tripura was held on 2nd August 2025 at the Panchayati Raj Training Institute Hall, Kumarghat. The event witnessed the participation of students from ten schools and three colleges. It was inaugurated by the Honourable Minister of S & T and Environment, Government of Tripura, Shri Animesh Debbarma, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, along with Shri Bhagaban Chandra Das, MLA as the Guest of Honour. The program featured a quiz on space science, insightful talks on the journey and future of the Indian space program by Dr. Shyam S. Kundu, Head, SASD, NESAC, and on the applications of space technology by Shri. Shantanu Das, NESAC. An exhibition showcasing the milestones of India’s space program was also organized. Ten teams enthusiastically participated in the quiz competition, with Pabiacherra Class 12 School securing the first prize.

ASSAM
The National Space Day 2025 celebration in Assam was organised on 5th August 2025 at the Kalaguru Bishnuprasad Rabha Auditorium, Tezpur University. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students representing 15 schools from Tezpur and nearby areas.
The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Raja Rafiqul Haque, Vice Chancellor (In-charge), Tezpur University, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He was joined by Dr. Koteshwar Rao C, Scientist/Engineer-SG, U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), Bengaluru, as the Guest of Honour. The celebration featured a quiz competition on space science and a series of popular science talks. Dr. Koteshwar Rao C delivered an engaging lecture on India’s Moon Missions, while Dr. Arup Borgohain from NESAC spoke on the Societal Applications of Space Technology. A space exhibition, showcasing the major milestones of India’s space programme, was also organized as part of the event.Out of the seven teams that qualified for the final round of the quiz competition, the team of Ms Payal Dey and Shri Prayas Madhur Gogoi from Army Public School emerged as the winners, securing the first prize.

MIZORAM
The National Space Day programme for Mizoram was conducted at Venthlang Hall, Champhai on 07th August, 2025. The program started with the registration and screening of 5 schools through a MCQ paper based quiz to screen 5 schools out of the 14 at 9.30 am. Upon arrival of the Chief Guest, National Anthem was sung and Welcome address by Er. H. Lalsawmliana, Chief Scientific Officer, MIRSAC which was followed by Dr. Pebam Rocky, Scientist SF, NESAC on the background about the event, and remarks by Dr. GVP Bharat Kumar, Scientist G, URSC. This was followed by the speech of Chief Guest, who elaborated on the opportunity the rural school students of his hometown and to take the, maximum benefits out of this event. The Inaugural programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Smt. Hmingthanpuii, Principal Scientist, MIRSAC.
The next session of the programme started with a talk on Indian Space Programme with special emphasis on moon missions. This was followed by a talk on space applications for societal benefits by Dr. Pebam Rocky which was followed by audio visual show and interaction with the scientists. Quiz competition was conducted among the 5 schools and 3 best schools were felicitated with mementos, certificates and prize money.

The NSpD- 2025 for the state of Arunachal Pradesh was celebrated on08th August, 2025, at Kalawangpo Convention Hall,Tawang. Kum .Namgyal Angmo,IAS,Deputy Commissioner, Tawangwas the Chief Guest of the programme and Shri Jayasimha P.ProjectDirector, Chandrayan-5,URSC, ISRO was the Guest of Honour. The program was attended by scientists from NESAC, Director/Deputy Director and other officers from APSAC and Deputy Director and other officers of School Education,Tawang.Twelve teachersand196studentsrepresenting4schoolsofTawang(Govt. Secondary School, Bomba,Govt .Higher Secondary School,Tawang, Govt.Town Secondary School, Tawang and Manjushree Vidyapeeth,Tawang)attended the programme. ShriJayasimhaPhas delivered theleadtalkon“Aryabhattato Gagnayaan: Ancient Wisdom to Infinite Possibilities”. Dr.JonaliGoswami, from NESAC delivered a talk on“Space applications for Societal Benefit”. A quiz competition was also conducted among the schools and winners were felicitated by the Chief Guest.A state exhibition was also put on to increase the interest of the students towards space science.

MEGHALAYA
North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), Umiam, in collaboration with State Council for Science, Technology and Environment, Govt. of Meghalaya, organised the National Space Day Celebration 2025, Meghalaya. The programme was held at the SELM Hall, Tura under the theme “From Aryabhatta to Gangayaan” in the presence of Shri Vibhor Aggarwal, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills District, Govt. of Meghalaya as the Chief Guest, besides Shri V. Anand, IAS, Addl Deputy Commissioner, Tura, Shri M. Srikanth, Senior Scientist for ISRO and Shri Shaphrang Sawkmie, Programme Officer, SCSTE, Shillong. In the Inaugural Session, Dr Jenita M. Nongkynrih, Scientist/Engineer ‘SF’ & Head, Urban & Regional Planning Division, NESAC, welcomed all the dignitaries and participants to the programme. There were about 280 students from 30 schools from West Garo Hills, East Garo Hills, North Garo Hills, South Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills districts of Meghalaya. The Chief Guest, Shri Vibhor Aggarwal, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills District, in his address, recognise the significant milestone achieved by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in successfully landing Chandrayaan-3 Vikram on the south pole of the moon. Additionally, he shed light on how India has managed to send a probe that is almost touching the outer atmosphere of the sun, a great achievement for the citizens of India. He encouraged students to seize this opportunity to learn more about space, hoping that this event would inspire young students to think and come back with bright ideas about space technology.
In the second session, there was a lecture on the Indian Space Programme with special emphasis on the moon mission delivered by Shri M Srikanth, Sci/Engineer- SG, ISRO. In the afternoon session, a quiz competition was conducted for students from various schools. Thirty schools, each represented by two students, participated. In the quiz, the winning team was from Aeroville School, Tura.

ZONAL EVENT AT SHILLONG
The zonal event for National Space Day 2025 Celebrations for Zone-1 was jointly organized by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC on the theme “Aryabhatta to Gaganyaan: Ancient wisdom to infinite possibilities” in Shillong on August 14, 2025. The event was graced by several dignitaries viz., Shri Satinder Kumar Bhalla, ITS, Secretary, North Eastern Council (Chief Guest), Dr. S P Aggarwal, Director NESAC(Guest of Honour); Dr. N. Raghu Meitei, Associate Director, Directorate of Technology Development and Innovation (DTDI), ISRO HQ.; Shri M. Srikanth, Scientist-SG, URSC & Mission Director, Chandrayaan-3 Mission & other Senior Officials from NESAC. In his welcome speech, Dr. B.K. Handique, Chairman, Local Organizing Committee (LOC) welcomed the students, teachers & dignitaries gathered and summarized the month long celebrations of National Space Day 2025 in the nine states of Zone-1 through a video. Dr. S. P. Aggarwal, Director, NESAC & Guest of Honour for the program emphasized on the catalytic role being played by ISRO in establishing India as a leading Space faring Nation. Shri Satinder Kumar Bhalla encouraged the students in pursuing a career in Space technology and commended ISRO for the technological advancements made over the years and NESAC for its contribution to the NER. The technical session featured four lectures on different themes by Dr. N. Raghu Meitei , Dr. KK Sarma, Group Head, RSAG, NESAC, Dr. Vikas Dubey, Associate Professor, NEHU, Shillong & Shri. M. Srikanth, URSC. In the concluding session, the award winning students from each of the State -Level programs were felicitated along with State Coordinators and Teachers. With this program, all events of Zone-1 for National Space Day 2025 Celebrations came to a successful completion.
