The training and capacity building programme of North eastern Space Applications Centre was started from its inception. It is initiated not only for the beneficiaries of North eastern States but also of national level in various fields where space technology inputs has a role to play. Large numbers of outreach and capacity building programme have been organized by NESAC for maximum utilization of geospatial inputs for planning and developmental activities. Two regular two weeks training course on Remote Sensing and GIS technology and applications have been conducted by NESAC in every year since 2016 in addition to the other outreach programs.
A number of students from different parts of the country have been carrying out their BTech/MTech/MSc dissertation work in NESAC in every year under the supervision of NESAC Scientists and Engineers. From the overwhelming response in various training/course at NESAC and directives from various policy makers forum, recently, NESAC has established a separate Training and Outreach facility located in 500m away from the NESAC main campus. It is comprised of Academic Blocks with Lecture Hall cum IT Lab, Smart Digital Class room, Sophisticated Conference room with VC facility, 10 G Network connectivity for internet, Hostel facility for 80 boarders along with the other recreation/multipurpose hall, canteen facility etc.
Outreach and Capacity Building
NESAC is pleased to announce the commencement of two important schemes under the NESAC Outreach program i.e. Internships Scheme and the Student Project Trainees-Scheme. These schemes have been meticulously designed to provide an excellent platform for interaction with distinguished scientists and engineers, offering invaluable opportunities to interested students and research scholars from a wide range of academic institutions.
About the Schemes:
- Student Internships Scheme:
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for the Internship Scheme, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- The candidate should be a Citizen of India.
- The candidate should be pursuing UG/PG/PhD from a recognized University/Institution (India/Abroad), OR the candidate should have just completed UG/PG from a recognized University/Institution and seek an internship opportunity (within 6 months from the date of award of the degree) for profile enhancement.
- The candidate should be a student enrolled for a regular on-campus program in a recognized University/Institution, OR the candidate should have completed UG/PG/PhD as a regular on-campus student.
- The candidate should possess an aggregate of a minimum of 60% or CGPA 6.32 on a scale of 10.
Guidelines:
- All students seeking an internship opportunity must submit a bona fide certificate duly issued by the Head of the Department/Principal/Director of the institute. The bona fide certificate should include a statement indicating that the internship period is a part of the course curriculum.
- The internship period shall have a maximum duration of 45 days and need not be continuous.
- Interns/project trainees are not eligible for any stipend/remuneration/financial assistance.
- Accommodation facilities are not provided for interns/project trainees during their NESAC internship.
- Students will have access to canteen facilities on par with regular employees.
- A certificate will be awarded to interns/project trainees upon satisfactory completion of their internship and submission of their assignment report, subject to evaluation by the concerned Division Heads.
- All interns/project trainees shall take clearance from NESAC for publishing papers/reports through external agents with regard to the work done at NESAC.
- Student Project Trainees Scheme:
Eligibility Criteria:
All students wishing to pursue academic project work at NESAC must be a citizen of India and shall possess an aggregate of Min 60% or CGPA 6.32 on a scale of 10. Further, the candidates must meet the following criteria:

- Sep 1 – Oct 15 for projects starting from December
- Oct 15 – Nov 15 for projects starting from January
