Lt. General Rana Pratap Kalita, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, GOC-in-C, Eastern Command, Indian Army visited NESAC on 24th April, 2023. Dr SP Aggarwal, Director, NESAC welcomed Lt. Gen. Kalita on behalf of NESAC and made a presentation on the recent activities and achievements of the centre. Dr Aggarwal highlighted few major geospatial applications and operational services pertaining to natural resource management & monitoring, infrastructure planning, disaster management supports and satellite communication. Lt. Gen. Kalita appreciated the diversity and quality of work being carried out by NESAC for societal benefit in the region.

Customised training for project officials of the Tripura CREFLAT on RS & GIS in forestry & ecological applications
A customised two weeks course for the Indo German Development Cooperation funded project “Climate Resilience of Forest Ecosystems, Biodiversity & Adaptive Capacities of Forest Dependent Communities in Tripura” (CFEFLAT) supported by the Tripura Forest Department was organised during 21st April 2025 to 02nd May 2025 by the Forestry & Ecology Division. Twelve officials participated as the first batch of the training programme. The training focussed on the introductory lectures on basics concepts of remote sensing, GIS, image interpretations, map projections and digital image processing with emphasis on hands-on exercises on different aspects of forest cover and land use mapping.
