The North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC) in collaboration with the Nagaland Geographic Information System & Remote Sensing Centre (NGISRSC) organized the National Space Day celebrations at the SIRD Auditorium in Kohima, Nagaland on 16th July, 2024. The event was enthusiastically participated by 150 students from various schools in Kohima, Nagaland.The event commenced with a welcome address by Er. M. Kithan, Project Director, NGISRSC Planning and Transformation Department. The event was graced by Principal Secretary and Development Commissioner R. Ramakrishnan, IAS, as the Chief Guest.Dr. Dibyajyoti Chutia, Head of GID, provided an overview of the space programme and highlighted the importance of celebrating National Space Day.
The technical session featured two interesting presentations on “Space Applications for Societal Benefit” and “Indian Programmes with Special Emphasis on Moon Missions,” delivered by P.S. Singh, Scientist-SF, and Ritu Anilkumar, Scientist-SD, GID, respectively. This was followed by a quiz competition on space technology was held, and the top three students were awarded trophies, certificates, and cash prizes.The programme was coordinated by Shri Nilay Nishant, Scientist-SE, with technical assistance from Md Abhu Sahin, Scientific Assistant, and Ms. Joonmani Deka, Project Support Staff of NESAC.An interaction between students and scientists from NESAC and NGISRSC was also held at the end of the programme.
