
NESAC celebrated the 80th Independence Day of the Nation in an eventful manner on 15th August, 2026. The National Song was sung by staff of NESAC in the presence of Director, NESAC and other senior staff of NESAC followed by hoisting of National Flag by Director, NESAC at 09:00 am at NESAC office campus followed by singing of the National Anthem. CISF unit, NESAC presented a Guard of Honour to Director, NESAC, which was followed by the address of Director, NESAC, where he paid tribute to the notable freedom fighters of the NE Region. He also mentioned achievements of the Nation as well as NESAC during the last year and urged NESAC community to follow the directions given by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of the Country towards a Vikshit Bharat. He commended the important works being carried out by NESAC staff in various domain utilizing new & emerging techniques and wished that scientists shall take up challenging research and applications to support accelerated development of the NE region. A demonstration of Weapons Drill was made by the CISF unit as part of the Independence Day celebration. This was followed by a symbolic walk by staff of NESAC with the Tricolour, the ‘Tiranga March’. An assay of competitions was organised for NESAC staff, family members, kids and students of nearby schools prior to the event like Drawing, Essay Writing, Slogan writing etc. An exposure and awareness visit was also made with pictures of 100 Freedom Fighters including the Freedom Fighters from NER onboard a vehicle to nearby schools as well as in Shillong. Prizes for the various competitions were distributed to the respective winners on 14th August at a separate program at NESAC Auditorium.
