A joint meeting was held on 22 September, 2026 between scientists from NESAC and the ICAR Research Complex for North Eastern Hill Region (ICAR RC-NEH), Umiam, Meghalaya, on potential areas of future collaboration and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two Centres. The meeting was led by Dr. Kadirvel Govindasamy, Director, ICAR RC-NEH & Dr. S. P. Aggarwal, Director, NESAC.
The meeting was conducted in hybrid mode, with scientists from various ICAR institutes across NER participating virtually, along with scientists from Agriculture and Soil Division (ASD), NESAC & ICAR RC-NEH. Discussions focused on the multidisciplinary application of geospatial technologies across agriculture and allied sectors, including GIS-based sampling, advanced hyperspectral applications, agroforestry, horticulture, soil and plant protection, fisheries and animal husbandry.
Director, NESAC proposed involving ICAR RC-NEH, Umiam in upcoming NESAC projects to strengthen multidisciplinary research and field-level applications. It was agreed that ICAR RC-NEH would prepare a draft MoU and share it with NESAC for review and comments, followed by further discussion on the modalities of collaboration.
