A training program was held on 25th April 2022 for the officials of State Forest Department, Fire and Emergency Services, Home Police and District Disaster Management Authority. The training was held at the conference hall of Forest and Environment Department, Government of Meghalaya organised by State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA, Meghalaya). Dr Kasturi Chakraborty, Scientist, NESAC presented the forest fire status of Meghalaya and the application of the Forest Fire Incident Reporting Mobile App developed by NESAC. Dr Jakesh Mohapatra and Sri Praveen Kiumar, Research Scientists of NESAC made a demonstration of the Mobile App and the Dashboard system. The Mobile App was distributed to the officials who participated in the training for its effective use.

A customised two weeks course for the Indo German Development Cooperation funded project “Climate Resilience of Forest Ecosystems, Biodiversity & Adaptive Capacities of Forest Dependent Communities in Tripura” (CFEFLAT) supported by the Tripura Forest Department was organised during 21st April 2025 to 02nd May 2025 by the Forestry & Ecology Division. Twelve officials participated as the first batch of the training programme. The training focussed on the introductory lectures on basics concepts of remote sensing, GIS, image interpretations, map projections and digital image processing with emphasis on hands-on exercises on different aspects of forest cover and land use mapping.
