Nagaland GIS & Remote Sensing Centre (NGISRSC) and North Eastern Space Application Centre (NESAC) jointly organized one day User Interaction Meet in Kohima on 14th December, 2023. The main objective of the event was to review and highlight the deliverables and benefits of the outcomes of the projects taken up as part of the Plan of Action (PoA) of Nagaland and also to showcase the utilization of NeSDR geoportal towards empowering governance activities. The event was graced by Shri R Ramakrishnan IAS, Principal Secretary, and Development Commissioner, Government of Nagaland. Er M Kithan, Project Director of NGISRSC, extended a warm welcome to all participants, setting the stage for the user meet. Dr Dibyajyoti Chutia, Head, GID, NESAC made a presentation on the ICT enabled Geospatial Technology towards empowering Governance activities followed by live demonstration on NeSDR, NER-DRR and SMART AXOM geoportals. The meet was ended with interactive feedback session with all the participants nominated from around 15 Line Departments of Government of Nagaland.

A customised two weeks course for the Indo German Development Cooperation funded project “Climate Resilience of Forest Ecosystems, Biodiversity & Adaptive Capacities of Forest Dependent Communities in Tripura” (CFEFLAT) supported by the Tripura Forest Department was organised during 21st April 2025 to 02nd May 2025 by the Forestry & Ecology Division. Twelve officials participated as the first batch of the training programme. The training focussed on the introductory lectures on basics concepts of remote sensing, GIS, image interpretations, map projections and digital image processing with emphasis on hands-on exercises on different aspects of forest cover and land use mapping.
