NESAC celebrated National Science Day on February 28, 2024, organized under the aegis of Indian Society of Geomatics (ISG)-Shillong Chapter, Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS)-Shillong Chapter and Indian Meteorological Society (IMS), Shillong Chapter at North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong.
The event commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Prof. L. Cajee, Head of the Department of Geography, NEHU, Shillong followed by an enlightening speech by Prof. Sunil K. De, Vice Chairman, ISG-Shillong Chapter. Prof. D.K. Nayak, Vice-Chancellor (In-charge) of NEHU, addressed the participants of the event with his insightful speech on the role of science and technology for the holistic development of the society.
An interesting and important talk on Climate Change was delivered by Prof. Milap Sharma from JNU, New Delhi, via online mode. Subsequently, a quiz competition on Science and Technology was conducted by Dr. Pradesh Jena, Sci/Eng-SD, NESAC and Dr. Francis Dutta, Sci/Eng-SC, NESAC, where three students from NEHU Ms Ananya Bhattacharjee, Shri N. Bishal Singha and Shri Lieuchang M. Sangma bagged the first, second and third prize respectively. This was followed by address from Dr. S.S Kundu, Secretary, IMS-Shillong Chapter and Dr. D. Barman, Secretary, ISRS-Shillong Chapter.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks offered by Dr. B.K. Handique, Secretary, ISG-Shillong Chapter.
