The North Eastern Council (NEC) and NESAC jointly celebrated National Space Day 2024 on July 31, 2024 at the NEC Secretariat in Shillong. Over 150 students from five schools attended the event. Shri Som Kamei, Planning Advisor, NEC, highlighted India’s lunar exploration and ISRO’s progress. Chief Guest of the event Dr. SP Aggarwal, Director, NESAC , delivered a talk on the theme “Touching Lives while Touching the Moon: India’s Space Saga,” focusing on Chandrayaan-3’s achievements and future missions, and encouraged students to learn more about space. Other speakers included Dr. KK Sarma, Dr. Dibyajyoti Chutia, Shri Victor Saikhom, and Dr. S. Sujan Singh, who discussed the societal benefits of the Indian Space Programme and the use of geospatial and UAV technology.
