ISRO will be celebrating 1st Anniversary of National Space Day on 23rd August 2024 Nationwide to commemorate the historic landing of Chandrayaan-3 on south polar region of Moon on 23rd August, 2023. NESAC is celebrating the event by holding regional level programs in all 8 North eastern Region states & west Bengal. As a part of the celebration, National Space day was celebrated at Silchar, Assam on 12th August, 2024. The event was jointly organised by NESAC and Guru Charan College (GC College), Silchar. Around 400 students of 9-12 standard of various schools from Cachar, Hailakandi & Karimganj districts of Assam participated in the event along with their teachers. The program was inaugurated by Dr Bibhas Deb, Principal, GC College. In his welcome speech, he reiterated the scientific, social and cultural importance of Moon Landing of ISRO. After this, an invited talks were delivered by Sri P. Vijjaya Ganesh, DRD, Chandrayan-1,2,3 Missions & Sr. Scientist, UR Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), ISRO on ‘India’s Lunar Missions’ . Dr. Kuntala Bhusan, Sr. Scientist, NESAC delivered another talk on ‘Indian Space Program for Societal Applications’. Both the talks were well received by the students. After Lunch, a Quiz Competition was held, which was followed by distribution of prizes and interaction with NESAC & ISRO Scientists. The program concluded with a vote of thanks. The program was coordinated from NESAC by Dr. Kuntala Bhusan & from GC College by Dr. Mridul Mohan Das.
