NESAC, in collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), celebrated the National Space Day-2024 at Dibrugarh Hanumanbax Surajmall Kanoi (DHSK) College, Dibrugarh on 8th August, 2024. The event took place at the Lalchand Kanoi Auditorium and was aimed at inspiring students to pursue careers in space sciences.
Dr. Jiten Hazarika, Vice-Chancellor, Dibrugarh University who attended the program as the chief guest, commended NESAC and DHS Kanoi College for organising such a significant event in Upper Assam and emphasized its potential to inspire students interested in space research and foster a research-oriented mindset. Dr. Sashi Kanta Saikia, Principal of DHS Kanoi College expressed hope that the students attending the program would one day become influential space scientists and researchers, contributing to groundbreaking space missions. He thanked ISRO and NESAC for their support in making the event possible.
ISRO’s Scientist Shri Aditya, R. From URSC, Bengaluru gave a detailed presentation on the successful Chandrayaan-3 mission. Dr. B. K. Handique, Head, PPEG, NESAC provided a background on the event and discussed the applications of space technology in society. The event also featured former Prof. P K Bhuyan of Dibrugarh University, who spoke on key aspects of space science.
A space exhibition was also organized as part of the program, where in NESAC displayed different models of launch vehicles and satellites as well as put up posters highlighting different components of Indian Space Program. The Space on Wheel from NESAC was also displayed during the program. A quiz competition was also organised among students from 25 schools and colleges in Dibrugarh district.

A customised two weeks course for the Indo German Development Cooperation funded project “Climate Resilience of Forest Ecosystems, Biodiversity & Adaptive Capacities of Forest Dependent Communities in Tripura” (CFEFLAT) supported by the Tripura Forest Department was organised during 21st April 2025 to 02nd May 2025 by the Forestry & Ecology Division. Twelve officials participated as the first batch of the training programme. The training focussed on the introductory lectures on basics concepts of remote sensing, GIS, image interpretations, map projections and digital image processing with emphasis on hands-on exercises on different aspects of forest cover and land use mapping.
