A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between NESAC and National Institute of Technology (NIT) Meghalaya on 21st May, 2025 in presence of Dr. S.P. Aggarwal, Director of NESAC, Prof. Pinakeswar Mahanta, Director, NIT Meghalaya. The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Diptendu Sinha Roy, Dean Research and Consultancy, Prof. Deba Kumar Sarma, Dean, Planning and Development, Prof. Anup Dandapat, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Saikat Mukherjee, Dean Faculty Welfare, Prof. Harish Chandra Das, Dean, Public Relations Branding & Ranking from NIT-M and Dr B.K. Handique, Head, PPEG and Shri Chirag Gupta, Sr Scientist from NESAC.
During the event, the Director of NIT Meghalaya extended a warm welcome to all the delegates present, marking the beginning of a promising collaboration. He emphasized that this partnership offers a significant opportunity for mutual growth and advancement by both these premere institutes. The Director highlighted that the collaboration would enhance the effectiveness of various academic schemes, particularly in B.Tech projects, joint guidance of M.Tech scholars, joint PhD guidance programs and part-time Ph.D. at NIT Meghalaya for scientists at NESAC. The Director also stressed the importance of facilitating short-term visits for students and faculties, which would contribute to knowledge exchange and foster closer ties between the institutions.
Director, NESAC extended a sincere appreciation to the Director, NIT-Meghalaya and entire team for their keen interest and initiatives academic and research collaboration with NESAC. He encouraged the faculties of NIT-M to submit research proposals under RESPOND program. He cited the example of Space Technology Incubation Cell (STIC) established at NIT-Agartala and suggested that similar initiatives may be taken up by NIT Meghalaya.
The program ended with visit of NESAC delegates to different Labs and facilities of NIT Meghalaya.
