NESAC conducted a two-week training course on “UAV Remote Sensing: Technological Advances & Its Applications” from 06 to 17 October 2025 at NESAC Outreach Facility. The programme aimed to enhance technical capacity in UAV-based data acquisition, photogrammetric processing, and thematic applications in sectors such as agriculture, forestry, geosciences, urban studies, and water resources.
A total of 19 participants, including working professionals from government organizations, industries, academic researchers, and postgraduate students from various institutes across India, attended the course. The Inaugural Session commenced with an introduction by Dr. Victor Saikhom, Course Director, who outlined the objectives and structure of the training programme. Shri Ramani Kr. Das, Head, SUD, addressed the gathering and highlighted the growing operational relevance of UAV technologies in NESAC’s projects and services. The session concluded with an inspiring address by Dr. S. P. Aggarwal, Director, NESAC, who emphasized the transformative role of UAV-based remote sensing in enhancing data-driven decision-making, precision mapping, and monitoring applications across the North Eastern Region. He reiterated NESAC’s commitment to research excellence, innovation, and sustained capacity building in UAV and geospatial technologies. Shri Sanjay Pandit, Course Officer, proposed the Vote of Thanks.
The course combined lectures, simulator exercises, hands-on practical sessions, field demonstrations, and mini-projects, covering topics such as UAV principles, DGCA regulations, GNSS integration, multispectral and LiDAR sensors, photogrammetry, and AI/ML applications.
The Valedictory Session, held on 17 October 2025, featured participant’s feedback, certificate distribution, and concluding remarks by Director, NESAC, who commended the participants for their active involvement and reiterated NESAC’s continued commitment to capacity building and innovation in UAV and geospatial technologies.
