A One-Day Training Programme on “Remote Sensing, GIS and Space Technologies” was conducted at NESAC, on 14 January, 2026 for 40 officers of the Works Audit, Regional Capacity Building and Knowledge Institute (RCB&KI), Shillong, under the Indian Audit & Accounts Department. The programme aimed at enhancing awareness and understanding of satellite remote sensing, Geographic Information System (GIS), UAV-based data acquisition, and the applications of space technology in planning, monitoring, and auditing of infrastructure and development works.
The training programme was coordinated by Dr. Victor Saikhom, Scientist-SF, GID, and included technical sessions on the fundamentals and applications of Remote Sensing, GIS, and UAV-based data acquisition, emerging geospatial technologies, and a dedicated session on NESAC and ISRO geoportals for data access and visualisation. The programme also featured a visit to NESAC laboratories and facilities, providing participants with exposure to operational geospatial infrastructure and ongoing application projects.
The programme was concluded with a brief interactive session with Dr. S. P. Aggarwal, Director, NESAC, and the participants. The programme witnessed active participation and interactive discussions, contributing towards strengthening institutional capacity and promoting the effective use of geospatial and space technologies in governance and audit-related functions.
